Volunteering

Our
Community Programme is designed for all employees to get involved in and to
'Give Something Back' to the communities in which our businesses operate.
Volunteering is a great way to do this. You can help your local community by
donating your time and skills to benefit them.
If you would like to volunteer but don’t know where to start the Community Team
can help. Complete a
volunteering application form to give information about the type of
volunteering you would like to get involved in and we can try and match an
opportunity with your interests.
Volunteering offers both personal and team opportunities, for example
individuals could volunteer to help their favourite charity for a couple of
hours or help children at a local school with their reading. Teams can take on
one of the many larger events available such as re-decorating a room,
environmental clean ups, arranging a social event for people with special needs
etc, the opportunities are endless.
We’re challenging our locations (both in the UK and abroad) to complete as many
volunteer challenges between them during the year.
A volunteer challenge does not have to be a huge time consuming event, there are
lots of ways in which you can help local organisations and do your bit to make a
difference.
- Local Schools – Are often looking for volunteer committee members or to help
out at school events. Maybe you can spend an hour or so each week helping
children with their reading.
- Road Safety – Truck drivers are always welcomed
by schools to give talks to children on awareness and road safety.
- Charities
and Voluntary Organisations – often welcome the support of local businesses
in many ways
- Helping out at fundraising events
- Donating your skllls, eg accountancy,
secretarial, technical
- Helping out in their office with large mailshots etc
- Environmental Agencies – usually have plenty of opportunities for those that
want to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in for example clearing waste patches
of ground, canal clean ups, tree planting etc.
Remember - a volunteering event can be a great team building exercise, often with
people utilising skills they may not have the opportunity to during the course of
their normal working day.
If you are a volunteer and your organisation requires any support then let us
know (click here) send
you’re completed form to the Community Team, Bibby Line Group, 105 Duke Street,
Liverpool, L1 5JQ.
Please also remember to let the Community Team know about your event, we’re
always looking for stories for Bibby News and the website and can also help you
to get your event into your local newspaper.
