South Downs Trek raises thousands for charities
Flying the flag for the Bibby Line Group Giving Something Back Programme, 12 intrepid trekkers set off on 10th June to walk 26 miles over two days on the South Down Way for a number of fantastic charities, raising in total a fantastic £4,710.
The team, made up of colleagues from Bibby Financial Services, Garic and GreenAcres explored the South Downs, hiked through Seven Sisters Country Park, and trekked along high coastline cliffs, taking in the memorable Beachy Head on the final day.
Helen Symes, PA to Directors at BFS Banbury said “I have been raising money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my father, Robert Cotterell, who died very suddenly of a heart attack aged 50, while on a walking holiday in the Lake District. Every single step I took on both treks was in his memory”
Fiona Doyle, Head of Operations (North) Construction at BFS said “Personally I would recommend anyone to get involved in the Giving Something Back events. The sense of achievement I got from completing this challenge was beyond words and I am so proud of all my fellow trekkers for getting stuck in. I am very appreciative to Bibby Line Group for giving me the option to give something back to a charity I feel so strongly about and I will never forget brilliant memories and laughs have that weekend.”
Jessica Radford, Client Services Manager Operations also from BFS – “I was raising money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, who really looked after one of my friends when she had a premature baby who was very poorly and needed round-the-clock care. The best bit of the weekend was bonding with colleagues and getting to know people from different offices. The worst bit was the state of my feet at the end!”
Well done and thank you to everyone who took part including Colin Hotchkiss (Garic MD), Peter Taylor (GreenAcres), Luke Froude, Jonathan Baker, Luke Passmore, Conor Man-Mclennan, Samantha Durrance, Stuart Mace, Sharon Asquith (BFS).
