Independent Retailers Pledge over £600k to their Communities

Costcutter Supermarkets Group have paired over 50% of their stores with local good causes this year, pledging over £600,000 to more than 400 charities across the UK.

Helping retailers to thrive, Local Pride is the businesses new charity initiative, launched in-store in January 2016, it supports independent retailers to give back to the communities they serve.

Stores across the UK are now promoting select products that donate an agreed pence per pack to that store’s chosen charity. This is funded by suppliers and encourages a local partnership on a national scale for big brands, and a chance for direct suppliers to participate too.

 How Local Pride looks in-store.

Local Pride also encourages retailers to boost their fundraising in other ways too:

-          Through collection tins in store

-          Donating the proceeds of carrier bags (if applicable)

-          Encouraging online donations though their own store fundraising pages

-          And completing activities in store and out

Local Pride - JosieRetailer, Josie Chamberlin from Costcutter Codicote, partnered up with another local business, Codicote Spice, to raise £1,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support in Hertfordshire from a Curry Night.

Local Pride - Exelby Services £360 was raised by Exelby Services in North Yorkshire, completing a coffee morning in-store for Eden Valley Hospice.  

Local Pride - EVEEven the Head Office in Dunnington is getting involved too, already raising over £1,770 for their chosen causes nominated by colleagues.
