Welcome Home to our Nepal Team!
Congratulations to the 13 employees who returned home last month (November) from Nepal, where they helped to lay the foundations of 7 new homes which will house 7 families within the local Kamaiya community.
The Kamaiya people of Nepal have recently been freed from a life of bonded labour – a form of slavery – and left with the basic of shelter. Our team’s project was to assist in building new sustainable homes for them and their families.
“It was a life experience none of us will ever forget and words can’t quite describe it. It was hard work but really satisfying!”- Mike Clayton, Direct Search, Manchester.
“I’m not sure I can put into words how amazing and life changing being involved in this project has been but I’m sure I speak for all of us, when I say that it is one of the most memorable, exciting and humbling of experiences and we all have a bond that goes beyond the work and camaraderie we had in camp.” - Lynsey Devine, Bibby Financial Services, Edinburgh.
The team also raised over £22,000 on the run up to their trip, which will support the construction of 18 new homes as part of ActionAid’s on-going project in the community!
Well done team!
