Employees of the Group are encouraged to fundraise for their local charities and communities by receiving match funding for the monies raised. Together we have supported more than 400 charities, through payroll giving, centrally organised events and fundraising in our local communities. Together we have fundraised £980,000 to date.

 

The business has match funded £870,000 of the funds raised by employees since the start of our charitable giving programme, which began when we celebrated our Bicentenary in 2007.

 

The central programme has seen employees take part in events including the National  & Yorkshire Three Peaks, Peru -The Inca Trail, China - The Great Wall, The Grand Canyon, The Whole Hog, the London Marathon and the Great North Run.

 

To date 412 local and national charities or charitable causes have received a fantastic £1,850,000 with a further £750,000 donated so far to the Fairbridge youth charity to sponsor their tall ship, used as a development tool for the young people.

 

Included in the 2010 central programme will be plenty of fundraising as well as initiatives that enable employees to give back to their communities without giving money. These include donating blood, recycling mobiles, donating clothes and items to local charity outlets and most importantly employees volunteering their time within their community to support local causes.
