The Chiltern Woodland Burial Park put on a “Concerts in the Woodland 2011” series; between May and August to raise much needed funds for the Charity Soundabout.
Articulate Jazz opened the series, which included classical music in June and July from Serenata Ensemble, and The Albero Trio. The Harrow Male Voice Choir was particularly well attended, followed by a concert on Cello and Accordion by a duet called Nicetoy. The final concert of the series was a children’s interactive concert by Three Girls and a Piano.
Soundabout’s doors are open to all children, young people and adults who have severe and complex learning difficulties. Through making music we help them develop their ability to communicate and interact with the world around them – and have a lot of fun along the way!
Soundabout also delivers training packages to staff in special needs schools to use interactive musical techniques with their students: however, our techniques are about far more than just ‘making music’. They promote self-expression and interaction, encourage well-being and build relationships.
With the much-appreciated Match Funding; £3412-42 was raised along with raising the profile of the group itself.
