Chris Furlong from BDL in Elland, is a member of Friends of St Josephs Primary School in Heywood. This is a group of people such as parents and ex-pupils who spend some of their own time helping out at the school and raising money for it. Chris has over the last few months organised a couple of events, the first being the Easter Extravaganza and the second event was the Summer Fair.
Both figures have now been doubled thanks to Bibby Line Group to make a grand total of £3,000, which they handed over to the school. Speaking to Mr Gleeson (Headmaster) Chris discovered they are looking to build a few covered areas on the playground so the children can still play outside if it is raining or to shelter them from the sun.
“The school, from the teachers through to the children, are very appreciative of the money the company has donated to them and are looking to put a plaque with the company logo on what is built to show their appreciation. I was also asked to come to the front of the school assembly and they all gave me and the other people of Friends of St Josephs a standing ovation as a show of gratitude.” – Chris Furlong
Chris is now geared up to help organising another fundraiser as we head towards Christmas!
There is a team of ten running for the North West Air Ambulance in the London Marathon this year. If you have a place and want to join Team Bibby then get in touch.
Fundraising doesn’t just have to be about sponsored events and cake sales! There are many challenge events you can take part in that allow you to complete a personal challenge whilst raising funds for your favourite charity.
