The BFS office in Florida USA teamed up with their local community for the Back to School Bash 2011.
In weeks prior to the event the office collected donations from the BFS employees and opened up the opportunity for other people in their building to donate by putting a box out in front of the office.
The Community Back to School Bash is a not-for-profit organisation that collaborates with non-profit organisations throughout Palm Beach County that serve disadvantaged students pre-Kinder garden through to 12 by providing supplies, information and resources to empower children to begin the school year with confidence.
The Bash was by invitation only, and only those children who qualify for this assistance are allowed to attend. Each child was paired up with a volunteer and brought to their grade section where all supplies for their grade level were provided. Back packs, crayons, pencils, folders, dictionary’s, erasers, binders, rulers, paper and so much more were provided. Giving back to the community, especially to children who are underprivileged, homeless, at risk of homelessness or in foster care, was very rewarding. The smiles on the children’s faces were priceless, and this event will definitely be an annual event for BFS Florida team in the future.
