Cliff Starkey from BFS Eastbourne took part in the Sussex Sixes Tournament 2011.

Each July a six-a-side tournament in Uckfield, East Sussex is run by a local junior football club, Uckfield Grasshoppers (established in 1981) as a major fund raising event for the club. What began in 1991 as a day long event catering for three age groups has since developed into a weekend event with football competition for 9 age groups from under 7′s up to and including under 15′s.

Over 120 teams take part with more than 1,000 youngsters participating. Various activities are available from bouncy castles to speed shot stalls along with involvement from the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Also at the event were food and drink stalls including a barbecue, which Cliff helped to coordinate.

For 2011 the event raised in excess of £8,000 and the barbecue alone took £3,219 over the 2 days, £1,700 of which was taken on the Saturday that Cliff worked on. – That’s a lot of burgers Cliff!!
