Vijai Menhar from BDL in Biggleswade helped raised £1,000 for Hitchin Belles FC as he helped organise the end of season awards.
Vijai and club officials such as managers, secretaries, chairman & parents helped to organise the event for all the aged groups, ranging from girls age 9 to 14 years old. 140 people turned out on at the event in June, with everyone enjoying the activities, including a bouncy castle for the younger children, ice cream van, BBQ and a bar for parents, which the dads particularity enjoyed as it was father’s day. There was also a raffle of some great prizes and even a dad’s football match which provided much entertainment for all.
Everyone was extremely pleased to raise the amount that they did and once matched the much needed funds will go to the general running and future of this fantastic cause.

“Girls football at the moment is the fastest growing sport in the UK, but unfortunately it does not get the same funding as the men’s game. The money we have raised at this years awards event, will provide new equipment such as footballs and goalposts. The funds will also help girls to get involved who may otherwise not have the opportunity as a result to family financial restrictions. The club is run by volunteers who put a lot of time and effort free of charge day in, week out.’ – Vijai
