Steve Martin from BDL in Chadderton completed a Sponsored Swim on the 26th September.
50 swimmers including Steve and some parents swam the distance equivalent to Dover to Calais and back, then back out to sea for another 8km. Quite an achievement, which was rewarded by the amount of sponsor money collected. Steve helped to raise a total of £873 to be matched and sent to the Oldham Amateur Swimming Club.

Steve also raised £903 to be matched again for the swimming club, completing a Tesco bag pack on 15 October.
Tesco, Huddersfield Road, Oldham kindly allowed Steve and other volunteers to cover as many tills as possible between 10.00 & 16.00. The group placed collection buckets on each till as well as having a table at the entrance with their banner and mascot Sammy Seal, greeting customers and handing out leaflets.
The day was organised and co-coordinated by Steve and was a great success with the generous people of Oldham.
